Getting tired of store-bought granola bars? I know I am! I agonize over misleading nutrition facts, only to find that my “healthy” granola bars are actually not healthy at all! Many times the nutrition facts list the caloric contents of ONE bar, when there are (in fact) TWO in the pack! That’s not cool! So, I found a healthy alternative to have, any time of the day or as a pre or post gym treat. Pop two or three bites for a healthy treat as you reserve your calories for our next Two For A Chew adventure! These can be eaten at room temp but I really like them stored in the fridge!
Ingredients (12-14 balls):
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds, chopped
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons creamy almond butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon honey
Step 1: Combine oats, almonds, flaxseed, in a large bowl and stir.
Step 2: Melt almond butter (microwave 30 sec) and allow it to cool slightly, and then stir in honey until it’s combined.
Step 3: Once almond butter has cooled a bit, pour it over the oat mixture and mix well with a spoon then bring together with your hands.
Step 4: Roll dough into golf-ball sized (or slightly smaller) balls.
